Research and Development centre
We respond with research to a constantly evolving market.
The market and the continuous changes in the sector demand innovative products that ensure ever-higher performance while respecting the environment and meeting the requirements of major certifications, combining efficiency and ease of installation. Our commitment is focused on finding increasingly efficient solutions: we continuously optimize production processes and industrial technologies to meet the sector’s challenges.
Our laboratories.
Our commitment to Research & Development has always been a priority. That is why, at Isolgomma, we have six in-house laboratories where our technicians focus on research, testing, and quality control to develop cutting-edge products in the key sectors we operate in: construction and railway.
Acoustic laboratory
Our acoustics laboratory, built in collaboration with the Department of Technical Physics at the University of Padua, was designed according to the specifications of the UNI EN ISO 10140 standard. This one-of-a-kind laboratory is dedicated to measuring the acoustic insulation of walls and floors, and allows for determining the performance of insulating materials in accordance with UNI EN ISO 10140 and UNI EN ISO 717 standards, with results that are compliant and comparable to those from official laboratories.
The structure includes two rooms on the ground floor and two on the first floor. Between the rooms on the ground floor, a 60cm-thick reinforced concrete frame has been constructed, upon which the walls were built for tests related to sound insulation. On the upper floor, there are two different types of floors: one made of 14cm-thick reinforced concrete and the other of 25cm-thick concrete block, for impact sound insulation tests.
In compliance with the regulations:
- the rooms are decoupled horizontally and vertically using elastic joints, and the foundations are supported by Isolgomma anti-vibration mats.
- the surface areas of the floors and walls exceed 10 m².
- the volumes of the rooms are greater than 50 m³.
- the upper rooms, dedicated to impact sound measurements, are fully enclosed.
This cutting-edge facility enables our R&D department to develop materials and solutions using rigorous scientific methods and the latest standards, in order to create highly effective, durable, and easy-to-apply products.
Materials and prototypes testing laboratory
Our materials testing laboratory is dedicated to studying the performance of small-sized samples. Here, we conduct compression tests in compliance with UNI EN 29469 and compressibility tests according to UNI EN 29770, which assess the stability of materials to be applied under floating screeds. Additionally, we have test benches to measure dynamic stiffness, a key parameter for evaluating the vibration-damping performance of mats, and devices to analyze the viscous flow of materials under load over time. These tests allow us to characterize our products with comprehensive technical data sheets, in compliance with both national and international standards.
Fire laboratory
This laboratory is equipped to conduct combustion tests aimed at determining the fire reaction class of products, in compliance with UNI EN ISO 13501-1, using a single flame ignition, as required by UNI EN ISO 11925-2. Our combustion chamber allows us to perform the tests under controlled conditions of airflow and smoke exhaust, enabling us to accurately assess the fire performance of materials, ensuring reliable results in line with current regulations.
